The AS 1528.3 standard aims to provide hygienic tube fittings for dairy and food industries, maintaining food safety at an economical price. This standard is globally recognized for its dimensional integration of tube and fittings. AS 1528.1 is the preferred choice for food industry applications due to its cost-effectiveness and high integrity for hygienic lines. It mandates batch traceability marking, ensuring validation in food and pharmaceutical plants.

AS 1528.1 specifies a nominal wall thickness of 1.6mm for most ODs, with a tolerance of +nil, -0.10mm. This standard acknowledges the typical production towards the lower limit of the tolerance range. For outside diameters, the specification allows ovality up to double the OD tolerance, ensuring the mean OD remains within acceptable limits. Weld beads must be removed, except in small sizes where it’s impractical, ensuring smooth internal surfaces free from crevices and weld penetration issues, crucial for preventing bacterial buildup.
